The 2008-09 USGA Rules of Golf, Canongate Junior Tour rules and regulations along with local club ploicies will GUIDE officials in administering events.

  1. Rules Violation: In the spirit of developing young players and to insure an enjoyable experience, there will be no disqualification of players due to rules violation. Rules infractions are opportunities for CJGT staff and caddies to teach players. One or two stroke penalties may be assessed by tournament officials under the guidance of the rules of golf. If caddies cannot agree on a specific ruling, bring it to a rules committee member or the Tournament Director by the end of the round and before score cards are signed and turned in. If there is any question play two balls from the location of the potential ruling--a decision on what score is used will be made by an official following play.
  2. Tee Times: All players must arrive at the first tee ten minutes before assigned tee time. If a player misses the beginning of the starter's briefing, they will recieve a warning. Players arriving at the first tee after their scheduled tee time will be worked into the event on a space available basis. Players should have their ball marked and score card in hand before starter's briefing starts.
  3. Pace of Play: Players are expected to keep pace with the group in front of them. As a guide, each player should not take more than 45 seconds to finish a shot. The players caddie will be held accountable for teh time it takes a player to hit a shot. All players in a group found out of position will be given a warning and asked to pick up pace. If the group continues to fall behind each member of the group will be timed. If a player takes more than the allotted time, the caddy will be warned and asked to encourage the player to speed up.
  4. Distance Measuring Device: Players are permitted to use devices that measure distance only. Devices that are capable of gauging or measuring other conditions are not permitted.
  5. Dress Code: Players and caddies must adhere to the following dress code: only acceptable golf attire is permitted. Players and caddies are prohibited from wearing shoes with metal spikes, short shorts, swimwear, and denim of any kind, t-shirts or tank tops. Players and caddies without appropriate attire will not be permitted to participate.
  6. Code of Conduct: Violations of the code of conduct include abusive language, club throwing or slamming club on ground, cheating, disrespect of volunteers or officials, abuse to the golf course or the facilities, littering, or any other conduct unbecoming of a player. Cell phone use by players or caddies is strictly forbidden on the course. First offense: warning; second offense: two-stroke penalty. Repeated violations may lead to rejection of future entries.

a. Use of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol by contestants or caddies during the round is prohibited.

b. Gambling by players or caddies is prohibited.

CADDIE POLICY: All contestants are REQUIRED to have a parent or guardian caddy for them. It is vital for caddies to help coach and teach their players, and to have their player hit each shot within a reasonable amount of time. Caddies will be monitored and assisted by the CJGT officials to help with pace of play as well as teach the rules and etiquette of the game. The CADDIE is responsible for the scoring of each hole and insuring the scorecard is correct before the player signs it and submits it to the CJGT official.

ADVERSE WEATHER: Under all circumstances, the CJGT staff will do everything possible to complete a tournament, regardless of weather conditions. Unfortunately, this sometimes requires that we play in adverse conditions. We DO NOT play if lightning or thunderstorms are present. If it is not possible to complete all stipulated holes of a tournament, the CJGT staff will determine a fair amount of holes to score. No refunds will be given if points are able to be awarded in an event. If it is not possible to score an event, the entry fee paid by participants may be used towards a future event. Because of costs already incurred by the CJGT at these events, we are unable to give refunds.

CJGT SPECTATOR POLICY:

  • Spectator carts may be rented from the golf shop, based on availability at each golf course. All golf carts must stay on the cart path at all times and must stay behind the junior furthest from the hole. The cart cannot be moved while other juniors are playing their shot.
  • Spectators MUST remain on cart paths, where provided, or in the rough away from any player and must stay up with the group they are following. Spectators may assist players in finding a golf ball as well as serve as fore caddies.
  • Spectators are allowed to carry umbrellas, jackets, towels and food for the players.
  • Spectators must observe play from positions which do not interfere with or delay the play of any competitor or group of competitors.
  • Spectators MUST adhere to the CJGT Dress Code Policy at all times.
  • The CJGT reserves the right to remove from the golf course any spectator who is viewed to be interfering with any competitor or displaying improper conduct. The aforementioned action could ultimately result in the competitor, of the spectator involved, being expelled from the Tour.
